After two years of filming the transformation of Kings Cross, footage of the Gasholders was finally aired on last night’s Blue Peter on BBC 1.
The Gasholders or ‘Gasholders London’ is a collection of canal side apartments built within a refurbished triplet of Grade II-L listed, 150-year-old cast iron gasholder frames. Bourne were responsible for the re-erection of these refurbished but very fragile gasholder frames around the three already constructed apartment blocks.
Footage of the bespoke pivot frame that Bourne used to lift each column into place made the final cut along with some great shots of the huge, 60mm diameter holding down bolts being tightened.
Behind the scenes, our site manager even received a Blue Peter badge!
